Privacy Policy

School Board Research is independent, unfunded research. This page explains, in general terms, what personal information this website collects and how it is used.

What we collect

You can read this site without giving us your name or contact details. Like most websites, the site records standard technical information when pages load, such as IP address and browser type, and gives us visit totals. We do not use this to identify visitors.

We collect personal information when you choose to send it: through one of our forms, a comment on an article, or an email. We use it to read, check and respond to what you send, and for the research record of the review it relates to.

What we publish

We do not publish the names or contact details of parents, students or members of the public, and we ask before quoting them. Some forms, such as those for school boards and trustee candidates, say that a submission may be published with the sender’s name. Each form explains what is published before you send it. Comments appear with the name you give.

Please do not include a child’s name or details that would identify a child in anything you send us. If a child is in danger, call 911.

Who can see it

We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or add anyone to a mailing list. Our web host and email provider process information on our behalf, and may store it outside Canada. We do not otherwise disclose personal information unless you agree or the law requires it.

Some pages include content from other services, such as embedded videos. Those services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

Questions and corrections

To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to ask us to remove something you sent, write to info@schoolboardresearch.ca. We follow the fair information principles set out in Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act as our own standard.
